  1. I think you should ask your friend what type of clothes to bring so you can blend in better. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just be your self and wear what you want.

Have a nice time and stop worrying!

  2. No matter what, the locals will able to tell you are not from there!!!(I take it it’s your 1st time there) You can wear anything you want shorts, vests, t shirts. dresses. That’s more or less what they will be wearing.
As for a safety issue, whenever you go any where in the world. Where you have not been before.
Always go out accompanied at night
Never carry large amounts of money
Never leave your drink unattended & then go back to it.
You will get a great tan!!
Take plenty of mosquitoe repellent & most of all have wonderful time!!!!!!!!
p.s Make sure you eat & drink plenty & try anything you never had before.

  3. Even if you were full black they’d still be able to tell you were not ‘from yard’ Trust me :)

  4. You will stand out no matter what. My advise stop stressing about being tan and safety of resort. Get some shorts, sun tan lotion, slippers and sleeveless tops and enjoy yourself. Check out http://www.montegobayonestop.com the site as lots of places for you to visit in Mobay. Enjoy

  5. Believe everyone when they tell you, locals will know you’re not from there, especially if your mixed race. You’ll appear "cold" as locals call it. Meaning, you look like you could use some sun. Don’t worry about blending in. They wont care.

As far as what to wear….down play anything you wear. Nothing flashy, no shiny jewelry, crazy bright colors, cute little dresses. These are all things that are not as standard to wear. It also depends on where on the island you will be. If you’re out in the country, of course you wont need any of that stuff, but if you plan on going out somewhere nicer, you may want to dress up.

Either way it goes, you won’t blend in. Accept your uniqueness, it could actually get you far.

  6. I wore what ever I wanted shorts tee shirts no one cared what I had on mostly casual wear anyway like theyy said they know you are not from there and they don’t care, just be yourself and respectful of their Island..I lived in capri type pants and shorts for two weeks.. you wouldn;t flash jewellery around any where else would you ? so leave it home.you don’t need it .. and the resorts will have you believe that they are the only safe place to be in Jamaica..that;s crap..they just want your money,go out enjoy and spend your money in the markets etc.just be as smart as you would if you were in New York or else where, I was all over the place..but be careful at night as anywhere…

  7. people are goign to call to you especially if you are a woman, its just the culture. If you know a jamaican who can show you around, you have it made.

Have a good trip. venture beyond the tourist areas. most times some good for nothings go there to make a quick buck.

learn to say "mi cris". but yo0u will be fine
