Iately i ve been thinking about using a tanning bed lately, and actually was thinking about going this week.
im not worried about safety or anything.
My question is, when you tan (using a tanning bed) for your VERYY first time, is it noticeable? like realllyyy noticeable? i dont want to come to school looking one shade one day, and a completely darker version the next. I dont wanna look fake… Im not extremely pale, but im not olive skinned…i have ivory skin with freckles. (and i dont burn)

thanks :)

Well, depends how long you stay in the tanning bed. You said you’re not "extremely pale" but you ARE sorta pale, right? If you tend to be lighter skinned, it’ll definitely be more noticeable after one use.

The tanning lotions at my tanning center are so expensive. Is there anything i could buy at cvs, walgreens, sallys, etc. that is cheaper, but works really good, and has a lot of bronzer in it? Any suggestions? Thanks

If you have a credit card, buy your lotions on eBay or Amazon.

Personally, I don’t like lotions with lots of bronzers in them. They give a "false" color after you tan, the bronzers get on my clothing, most of the "color" washes out in the shower, and they make me look "orange". I prefer that lotions be white or almost-white.

I have never used a tanning bed before and im kinda pale. Im afraid I’m going to get really bad sunburn but I don’t want to get a spray on/fake tan. Im going to go to Hollywood Tans and they let you choose between like four or five different pressures of tanning beds. I was wondering which one would be best for me since im on the pale side?

Start with a lower level and go for like 5 or 6 minutes, and use an indoor lotion. It also depends how recently they’ve changed the bulbs, so also ask someone that works there.

im looking for a really good indoor tanning lotion with bronzers that smells good, any suggestions?

Ehhh when it comes to scents. No two people may agree on what smells nice. I’d just go to a local salon. Ask for a couple of samples. Some places will sell them for $1-2. Other places you can maybe talk yourself into one for free. And then buy. You don’t want to pay upwards of $30 for a lotion online or in-store until you know you like it.

I have never laid in a tanning bed before but I am going to start soon, and I was wondering which tanning lotion would be best recommended since I have a fair skin tone? Thanks! (And Afordable)

Try Luminary by Designer Skin. Wonderful lotion. You can look up reviews by searching it but, I personally absolutely LOVE this lotion. It does not leave that "after tan smell" instead a very pleasant perfume smell. I was a shade darker after two days of use. and whats even better is that it makes your skin feel unbelievable to touch…Seriously UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

I want to start going to the tanning beds (I know they’re bad for you). How often would I need to go to keep up my tan?

I don’t understand why everyone preaches about how bad tanning is – you are going to go regardless of what they say. It really isn’t that horrible for you. A lot of things a person does is "bad".

It depends on how dark you want to be, but maybe go once or twice a week. Ask a worker, they know best.

And the tan you get from a tanning bed doesnt look bad, depending on your skin type. If you are fair skinned, you may just turn red. But, I don’t look orange AT ALL.

Make sure you invest into a nice tanning lotion too. Get one for your face and for your body. Hydrated skin tans better.

I’m a straight male who has used tanning beds before. I know a lot of people think it’s weird and I live in a more rural area so people think it means you’re gay. Although the cast of Jersey Shore uses them. Sometimes I’ve felt weird going to the tanning place since I’m a guy. What’s your view?

And yes I know it’s bad for you. But I’m not asking about that.

It’s only wierd if you’re skinny. Skinny guys who tan are always gay. Muscular guys who tan are only sometimes gay. And every guy on the Jersey Shore is a closet homo.

Joking aside – I’m a well built straight male and I’ve used tanning beds before. It’s not wierd to want to look more appealing to the opposite sex. Women do in fact go for the tall dark and handsome look – and if you need to tan to achieve that then go for it. It’s only truly gay if you get those sticker things that leave a tan mark of a heart or star or something anywhere on your body.
Good luck with the ladies!!

I’m going tanning for the first time & have found a salon & made an appointment….i know all about talking to the clerk about my skin tone and the length of time i should spend inside…etc, but what id like to know is what the actually percedure is….like how you get into and out of the bed…plus do you tan with a bathing suit or nothing….thnks

I DONT CARE~if ur going to lecture me on the safety problems with beds dont bother!!

okay ive done this plenty of times.
first, the salon should have sunscreen in there. you should apply a dab of sunscreen to every mole you have, to reduce the skin cancer.. if they dont have sunscreen you need some, also apply a little to your bum cheeks.as you are laying down (naked) flat on your back, so your bum cheeks are pressed on the bed, and trust me if you dont put sunscreen on then they will go red raw. and you honestly wont be able to sit down for a week ahah. (bad experience)
it’s really cool the first time you go.
it’s like a bed, but you just pull a cover over you, and they normally dont close ALL the way.
you should do half time on your back, and half time on your stomach.
be careful because it’s really like going to the beach.
but instead it’s like your laying on the sun. (not as hot hot )
you should also get a pair of solarium goggles. you dont need these but if you want you can wear them. stpos the bright light.
just have fun. its a good experience.
just dont get hooked into it and go every single day. try every second day :)
have fun!
xx
