I use tanning bed lotions outside and yes they say on the bottle apply indoors or outdoors, they have bronzers in them and one of them sells for 100 dollars. Does tanning oil like something that you could buy at tar ger for 10 dollars work just as good or not? I need to know this because I’m running out of tanning bed lotion and didn’t know if I should buy it again or just buy oil. Thanks!
Tanning oil is what you put on when you go tanning, to get a better tan. Lotions and mousses are without the sun.
I prefer tanning lotions, because I’m in a place where sun isn’t the regular weather (woo Nova Scotia!). Jergens is great stuff. I’ve used the lotion and the mousse and both work fine.
When using lotions, however, be sure to wash your hands because you hands will turn bronze!
Try Jergens Natural glow lotion, it’s like $10 at walmart/target and it’s a moisturizer with a tanning effect that builds up the more you use it…it’s way healthier for your skin and you get a really healthy glow

Tanning oil contains sunflower oil, coconut oil, lanolin, titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide, cocoa butter, green tea extract, vitamin C and E, sweet almond oil, and eucalyptus. Since these ingredients provides as a skin protection, moisturizer, antioxidants that help in skin rejuvenation and prevent lines. Typically, a tanning lotions’ ingredients are what define its properties, certain natural substances such as oils and plant extracts are oftentimes added to the product so as to protect the skin’s moisture levels. As a result of this, there is now numerous hemp tanning lotion products available on the market. Hemp tanning lotion is seen one of the more beneficial indoor tanning solutions because of the qualities that hemp oil itself exhibits. From a culinary standpoint, hemp oil is considered to be of the highest nutritional qualities due to its EFA (essential fatty acid) profile. Tanning lotions with hemp oil has the ability to hydrate our skin. Another benefit of hemp tanning lotions is the fact that hemp seed oil amplifies the tan, making it look more natural and darker. This is due to the natural oils contained in hemp that have the ability to intensify the UV lights penetrating your skin when tanning lotion is applied. In addition, your skin will become healthier if it uses hemp lotions because they contain more of the needed nutrients that are not found in other tanning products.

Your salon will not let you use an outdoor tanning product in the tanning bed. You must use lotions that are meant for "indoor tanning". If you need to buy some "cheap" tanning lotion, go to Sally’s Beauty Supply and find the ones with hemp. While you’re there, buy some moisturizing lotion too.

You can buy a combo pack of Nova Defense Tanning products that includes a tanning lotion, a bronzer, a body lotion plus a face cream for tanners for only 50 dollars!!! and it is one of the best tanning products in the market. Buy any of their products and see for yourself. The bottles look amazing and it is designed by a pharmaceutical company called Pharmaciana and is supported by medical research! You can buy it from their web site or from Amazon. As for your question, lotions are better than oils because they can carry water soluble ingredients as well as oil soluble ingredients (while tanning oils would carry only oil soluble ingredients).
