The place I tan will only let you use the lotions they sell because other will damage acrylic. I have never heard this before. Are they full of crap?
Its included in my gym membership so thought I would take advantage of it.
I work at Baja Beach Tanning.
Although most tanning salons recommend you use OUR product we sell.. You certainly can purchase your own lotions. The only way you will damage the beds are if you use oils (like the kind you put on when you go to the beach). We also recommend you use our lotions because we can tell by your skin type what is going to help you get the desired results the fastest.
Also, keep in mind you should rotate the type of lotion/bronzer you use. If you only use one kind, your Skin will become immune to it, and it will not longer work. You should rotate back in forth between two or three different kinds.
Well i’m not so sure about that i’ve never heard that before. Well if you want to stop going there then buy some good tanning oil and start tanning on you’re own.

Worked at tanning for 3+ years. Been tanning for 5 years.
YES, If the lotion contains Mineral Oil, it can damage the beds. A lot of salons won’t let you use it.

Try using Nova defense. this tanning lotion is designed by a pharmaceutical company and has ingredients to repair the UV damage. The best part is that you can apply it like half an hour before you go tanning or soon after and still enjoy the benefits. So you can just use it before you go to the salon or after you come back without any hassle from them.
