I live in scotland, and i think im suffering from sad syndrome, long darks days! ive read that the sun releases a happy hormone or something like that, i was wondering if i spent time under a tanning lamp that my mood might improve?

I am not sure if it has been proven to help, but i always feel a bit better after. I think it has something to do with the UV rays that the lamp emits mimics the suns UV rays – that’s why there is a warning on tanning beds.

I’d say go for it! Start slow and only go for a bit to reduce chances of burning.

I live in Chicago Illinois (U.S.) and it gets pretty horrible here in the winters. When I feel down I’ll go every couple of weeks or so and that little bit seems to help me.

  2. Oh lucky! Scotland is the one place I wanna go! Anyway, the sun gives off UVA & UVB rays which in in moderation and with sunscreen are good for your skin giving it that beautiful glow! But tanning beds give off UV rays which aren’t that good for your skin, but you’ll get a tan making you feel good about yourself! Just don’t go too much or you risk looking orange and unnatural. Use a good sunscreen and remember that sunscreen doesn’t prevent you from tanning it prevents you from burning! Hope this helped!
