If you are looking for the best price on tanning bed lights you need to shop online. You can buy them for substantially less online! Be sure to check out the full line of Wolff replacement tanning lamps

The life expectancy of tanning bed lamps depends on the type of bulb. Some have a longer expectancy than others but with all bulbs, by the time they reach half of their life span they are 50% less effective than they were when they were new.

If you can afford it, you should actually change your bulbs before the burn out. Once they start to be less effective you don’t get the same quality of tan so changing them early is great for your tan. And of course you can wait until they burn out.

When you are replacing your bulbs you might also want to consider upgrading your current bulbs to more potent bulbs or higher end bulbs. Be sure to read your manual to find out what bulbs you can upgrade or ask your local dealer.

Whatever your reason for changing lights, the choices are unlimited. There are actually more types of lights on the market then there are beds. Wolff offers one of the best lines of bulbs and are recognized as a leader in the industry.

When you are checking the price of bulbs make sure you comparing like products. If you are looking at 160 watt bulbs than of course you will compare other 160 watt bulbs. But you will need to go a little further than that. You need to compare life expectancy, UV ratios, and other factors. Use the spec sheets on each bulb for easy comparison.

Find out if the shipping is included in the pricing, or if it’s extra how much it will cost. High shipping can make your great deal not so great anymore. Don’t buy until you know what those costs are going to be.

Some websites also have a minimum quantity required for their order so read carefully so you know what’s required. Some require you to buy a dozen, some require a case, and others will require a gross, while others let you order just one or two. You certainly don’t want to have an extra 100 bulbs gathering dust.

Most of the high potency lamps cost more because they tan you faster and deeper. Remember that these higher potency lamps are also going to cost more power to run. At the price of electricity you might want to make sure the cost is going to be acceptable.

Never purchase bulbs that are not listed as compatible with your bed. Even if the lamp manufacturer says they are you’ll want to check with the bed manufacturer. Using the wrong bulbs can void your warranty but it can also pose a fire hazard or a shock hazard so don’t take the risk!

Do your homework before deciding which replacement lamps to purchase. Tanning bed lights are easily found online at a substantial savings and you can do your shopping all from the convenience of your desk.

Tanning beds are a great way to get that tan no matter what mother nature is doing. Whether it’s the middle of a winter snow storm, raining cats and dogs, or the wind is howling with a tanning bed you can be sure to maintain your tan and look great. But how frequently should you use tanning lamps?

One of the most commonly asked questions is how often it’s safe to use tanning lamps and whether all beds are the same. It’s great to see tanners becoming more aware of the safety of tanning both naturally and in tanning beds. It’s about time we took an active role in our skin health.

With all the information provided on the television and on the internet you might be surprised to discover we aren’t nearly as educated about the safety of tanning beds as you might think. People are still unsure about how many sessions a week are safe and how long those sessions should be and with so many different lamps on the market it can get really confusing. Good news – you’re about to get your tanning bed lesson in just a few minutes of reading.

The most important thing to know is just as not all cars are created equal nor are all tanning bed lamps. Just as there are cars that are great for new drivers and cars that are meant for the race track, there are also beds that are designed for beginners and beds that are designed for pros. Choose the right bed for your tanning expertise and the level of tan you currently have.

When booking your appointment at the salon book the appropriate level of bed. If you’re unsure then visit the salon for a consultation with the attendant and they’ll get you set up with the correct lamps.

Now not only do different beds produced different levels of UV rays, even the same bed can produce different levels depending on the lamps. The effectiveness of the lamps depends on a variety of things including the number of hours on the bulb, maintenance, the oils used, and the length of the session.

Tanning lamps produce the highest UV rays when they are new. When they are half used up they put out only 50% of the tanning rays they did when they were new. It continues to decline from there on.

So if you are attending a salon that likes to cut costs one of the first places to do that is no changing the bulbs at the proper intervals. Another way to cut costs is use inferior bulbs which transmit lower levels of tanning rays. This means you aren’t getting what you paid for. Ask the salon about their lamp replacement policy.

You will also not get the full benefit of the tanning bed if the acrylic covers are not properly cleaned. Salons wipe the exterior down after each use, well at least the good salons do. But dust and debris builds under the cover and they should be completely stripped down once a week.

A close inspection of the bed and the cover will reveal if it has a collection of dust bunnies. This means the salon doesn’t follow that procedure. Dust filters out the tanning rays that you are paying to get so make sure the bed you are using can provide.

How long your tanning session is will depend on the bed, your skin type, and the lamps. The attendant should tell you how long your tanning session should be based on all the factors.

Normally you will visit 2 to 4 times a week, depending on the bed you are using. Some of the real high end beds require only need one session per week to maintain your tan.

Before you start your tanning regime visit the salon. Speak with the attendant in charge of the tanning area. Find out which bed is for you, how much time you will need to obtain the tan you want, and also take a tour of the salon and their beds to ensure it meets with your standards for cleanliness.

Now wasn’t that easy? Tanning lamps really aren’t the big mystery we think they are. Use common sense and play it safe.

Whether you’ve used a tanning bed or are considering doing so there are many questions about indoor tanning that are frequently asked. Find the answers right here.

1. Who decides the maximum exposure time per session?
The time is determined by the FDA based on the intensity of the lamps in the bed. The salon then follows that schedule and also take into consideration your skin type and tanning history to come up with the optimum tanning time for you.

2. How fast to see a tan?
Some skin types will see a change in just two or three sessions but on average it take about 10 consecutive sessions to see a change. Then only a couple of sessions a week will maintain your tan. The amount of melanin in your skin determines how fast you tan. Fair skinned tend to have less melanin and tan slower than darker complexions.

3. Is indoor tanning as effective as the sun?
Yes and it can also be healthier because it blocks out the harmful UV rays. This means that you can get a healthy tan all year round without being dependant on the sun coming out.

4. What tanning lotions to use?
Never use lotions designed for outdoors indoors. There’s a couple of reasons. They cause a film on the acrylic which reduces the effects of the lamps and they also aren’t made to get the most out of the indoor tanning bulbs. Indoor lotions are engineered to give you the maximum results.

5. Can I burn with a base tan?
You can always burn if you overexpose yourself to the natural sun or a tanning lamp. However the base tan reduces the risk of that burn occurring to some degree.

6. I have trouble tanning outside will indoors be better?
About 5% of the population lacks pigment and is unable to tan whether it is indoors or outdoors. The tanning process is relatively the same in either scenario. If you tan slowly outdoors you’ll tan slower indoors too.

7. What to wear?
That is entirely up to you. You can wear your swimsuit which will match your beach tan lines. You can also tan nude but remember those areas are not use to exposure to UV rays so they’ll be more sensitive. They’ll tan slower but they’ll also burn a lot faster. Reduce your exposure to a third of your session time.

8. Will my hair lighten?
Think of the tanning bed as your bottle sunshine. If your hair lightens in the natural sun then it will lighten in the bed as well. If you do not wish for it to lighten cover it with a towel.

9. How long is the session?
Depending on the FDA regulations on that particular bed, your skin type, your current tan, and your history a tanning session can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes.

10. Which indoor beds are best?
That’s a personal preference however beds to range from beginner to pro so you should choose a bed appropriate to your tan level and your skin type.

There are also some guidelines you should follow when tanning indoors.

1. To avoid damaging your skin and developing a serious rash or burn never tan in one long session nor more than once a day.

2. Some medications are sensitive to UV light and may cause you to develop a rash. Check with your doctor before tanning.

3. If you have any type of skin problems check with your doctor.

4. If you have any medical conditions check with your doctor.

5. Do not wear perfume or cosmetics in your session as they can make your skin photosensitive.

6. Use tanning products designed for indoor tanning.

7. Always wear protective goggles when tanning as the UV rays can permanently damage your eyes.

8. If you are pregnant or nursing check with your doctor.

Now that we’ve answered the most common questions you should be better prepared to decide if indoor tanning is really for you.

If you love the way you look and feel when you’ve got a tan you know that when winter comes along the only solution is a tanning bed. Tanning beds provide the ultimate relaxation and keep you looking so good!

Suddenly the weather doesn’t matter. It can rain or snow. It doesn’t matter how crowded the beach, and it doesn’t matter that you have to work on the only day the sun comes out because a quick trip to the salon and you’ll be looking great!

When you wait for Mother Nature to provide the perfect tanning conditions you also need to have time. 20 minutes in a tanning bed is equal to about 4 hours in the sun so now you can get that deep, dark, tan in a fraction of the time. Get beautiful when it’s convenient for you – morning – noon – night. And you can enjoy the health benefits too!

With a bed you can also get that golden tan without having to worry about being exposed to dangerous UVB rays and you can provide your body with its needed vitamin D.

There are all kinds of beds on the market. The strength of the lamps will vary, as will the type of bulbs, the size of the beds, and so much more. So make sure you understand what type of bed you are about to use. There are beds designed for beginners and beds designed for those who already have a great tan. Some beds also have extra lamps to help tan your face.

Wolff makes a great line of tanning bed and they have both commercial and home beds available. If you’re planning to go to the salon then make sure the bed you are booked into is a quality bed. If you are thinking about buying a bed for your home be sure to look at what Wolff has to offer.

And yes what you’ve heard is true. Just as sun tanning has risks so does using the tanning bed, and all types of tanning need you to use common sense to reduce your risks. In fact UV rays are responsible the deadly melanoma.

Nobody is saying don’t tan. Heck for a sun worshiper or someone that love their tan that would never happen so why not tan smart? Yes tanning increases the risk of skin cancer including the deadly melanoma, and yes it causes premature aging, but it helps with depression including SAD, and it supplies the body with vitamin D.

Don’t be a victim of stupidity! You can have that glorious tan and you can get it safely by playing by the rules. To reduce your risks use sun screen, limit your exposure, never allow yourself to burn, and always wear protective goggles so that your eyes do not become damaged. Always use quality sunscreen products and be sure to moisturize after tanning.

Just 20 relaxing minutes twice a week in one of the professional tanning beds and you will look like you’ve been hidden on a tropical paradise for months. Isn’t it time to relax and enjoy that golden tan that’s going to have you looking great?

Cleaning your tanning beds isn’t that difficult. It requires a good disinfectant, a polish, and some elbow grease. But of all the cleaning products you’ll buy the disinfectant is by far the most important.

The disinfectant you need to use has to be a hospital strength germicidal. It should not contain ammonia or ammonia related ingredients as they can damage the finish on your bed.

You should prepare yourself too. Use disposable gloves to protect your hands from the chemicals and the germs. Use a mask when you are working with polishes and chemicals.

After each tanning session your beds need to be properly cleaned and disinfected. You must clean all parts of the bed that come in contact with a person’s body. You must also clean all the pillows, acrylic shields, and even the timer buttons.

Cleaning will ensure that fungus, bugs, bacteria, and viruses are stopped dead in their tracks. When you or your clients crawl into the bed you want it to feel squeaky clean with no worries about catching anything. You can’t clean too often.

You should wipe down the reflectors and lamps at least once a week. More if needed. Oils can cause the lamps to work ineffectively blocking the rays. Remove the acrylic shields and use a soft damp cloth to wipe everything down. Check the vents, fans, and blades for any blockages.

At least once a month you will also need to clean the cooling fans. By removing the dusty film that builds on the blades your fans will operate more efficiently and last longer and they’ll also continue to run quietly. If you don’t clean them they get gummed up with dust and crap on you. If the beds have air filters replace them.

After every 500 hours of usage you need to do an entire bed inspection. Make sure everything is secure right down to every last nut and bolt. You also need to check for weak or broken parts that may become hazardous and replace them.

The life of the tanning lamps will vary depending on the type of lamp and the manufacturer. Different bulbs have different ratings. By the time your lamps have reached half their life expectancy they are only operating at 50% which reduces their potency and limits the tan. Your clients will appreciate if you replace them early. Remember when you replace the lamps you also need to replace the starters.

There are several good cleaners on the market;

1. Lucasol One Step Disinfectant – is a one step hospital deodorizer, disinfectant, and cleaner with no perfumes.
2. Ultra Clean Tanning Bed Cleaner – a concentrated citrus scent deodorizer, sanitizer, and polisher combined into one product.
3. Clean Tanning Bed Cleaner – is a concentrated unscented deodorizer, sanitizer, and polish that makes 72 gallans.
4. Ultra Clean Tanning Bed Sanitizer – this concentrated unscented cleaner is a combines sanitizing, deodorizing, and polishing.
5. Novus – cleans and protects leaving a beautiful shine and a protective coating the repels the dust and reduces static.
6. Power Kleen – Contains no ammonia, disinfects, and cleans leaving a beautiful shine on your acrylic.

Each day millions of people head off to the salon for their daily tanning session. Some go to get their base tan for their vacation. Some go through the winter months to keep that golden tan. Some go all year round because it’s convenient and they feel good all over with a tan. So are tanning beds safe?

Here are 5 Facts you should know.

1. Sun Exposure Can Actually Reduce Your Risk Of Cancer

Many studies have shown that exposure to the sun in moderation on a regular basis can help prevent breast cancer, colon, and several other types of cancer.

The only reliable source of Vitamin D is the sun and it’s believed it may play a role in stopping pre-cancerous cells from reproducing. More research is currently being done.

Stats show that in parts of the world deprived of sun the overall cancer rates are higher than in those areas that have higher sun exposure. Tropical areas have overall much lower cancer rates than Northern areas.

2. People Who Are Regularly Exposed To The Sun Have Lower Malignant Melanoma Rates

Research has shown those that get regular exposure to sun actually have a lower risk of melanoma skin cancer. Recent studies show that melanoma is more common in northern areas than southern areas because of the continuous all year round exposure in southern areas.

So for example those that only get small doses of sun occasionally the risk of melanoma goes up. But for those that regularly work outside or spend a lot of time out in the sun the risk of melanoma actually goes down.

3. The Benefits of the Sun Outweigh the Risks

Melanoma kills 1200 people a year. Colon and breast cancer kill 150,000 a year. Osteoporosis affects 25 million Americans with 1.5 million suffering fractures that may lead to deal. Sun exposure reduces the risk of these other forms of cancer and provides the body with needed vitamin D. So although in some cases it may increase the risk of skin cancer the benefits far outweigh those risks.

4. Dermatologists Biased

Most of the work of a dermatologist is cosmetic in nature. Skin cancer is not and thus sometimes too much focus gets put on this one area which sometimes leads to overstatement of the issue and or not looking at the bigger picture such as lower risk of other forms of cancer.

5. Indoor Tanning Reduces Sunburn

Those that tan indoors are 85% less likely to get a sunburn. Salon staff take educating their clients seriously and play an active role in providing information to help clients tan safely.

Moderate tanning is just fine. What’s important is to avoid a sunburn. Avoiding the sun is not only practical it’s not good for your overall health. Salon staff do their part to teach clients how to tan smart.

Tanning beds provide the same benefits as the sun does but with reduced risks because the UVB rays which cause burning are not present.

Are tanning beds safe? Absolutely! When used in moderation they can provide some healthy benefits and keep you looking great!

But, I want a bronze color and I want to go tanning in a bed, but I usually get dark from tanning in the sun. So are there any lotions to make me bronze and not darker? And how much does tanning in a bed usually cost in Massachusetts?

You want to stick with all natural tanning lotions that won’t leave you with that orange look. I, have the same skin tone and I use Booty Butter by Bikini Kitchen and I obsessed with it. It is made from all natural ingredients out of Hawaii.

Any lotion made by Designer Skin is going to be really good. Obsidian, Luminary, Black, and Phoenician are the highest quality lotions they make and you get awesome results. They also last you longer than most lotions because they are silicone based so a little goes a long way! Obsidian is a warming bronzer, that means it works with the heat of the bed to keep you warm and it also give you a boost in color. Luminary and Black are bronzing lotions, which give you an added boost in color within 2 to 3 hours. Phoenician is a pure lotion, which means there is no added color in it, and it works with your skin’s natural color and boosts it. Hope that helps! (:

Find a Cosmolux dealer and ask them for lamps that are equivalent to the ones you have now. Almost all lamps have an equivalent somewhere.and Cosmolux is one of the better brands out there.
