premature aging and saggy skin. Also anything artificial has negative side effects. Do it only if you have to do it. Like for a special occasion.
References :
ummm... skin cancer? lol. I heard tanning beds are really bad for you. they are worse than lying in the sun. they emit UVA rays 2-3 times more strong than sun rays. i suggest doing a spray tan or using sunless tanning products. trust me, a tan is not worth the risk of getting skin cancer in the future.

Also... check this out: "People 35 or younger who used the beds regularly had a melanoma risk eight-fold higher than people who never used tanning beds. Even occasional use among that age group almost tripled the chances of developing melanoma."

Victorias secret bare bronze is good and jergens works well too for fake tans.
References :
http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/azhealthtopics/a/tanboothworthit.htm

Well, obviously burning is a risk. As in sun burn, only from the UV bulbs. Usually this only occurs when people try and tan too much too quickly. When I was tanning every day I broke out in a rash all over my abdomen and chest. I still don't know if it was a reaction to the tanning, the acceleration gel I was using or a combination of the two. I do know once I stopped artificially tanning they went away.

Of course there's a risk of skin cancer if you do it constantly for prolonged periods of time. If you don't wear protective eye gear, you can suffer damage to your eyes from the intense light. It can lead to premature aging and skin dryness.

The good news is that tanning beds aren't necessarily dangerous, per se. If you and your friend just want a little tanned glow for the summer, it's not as if a few trips to the tanning salon is going to give you melanoma or make you go blind. Just remember to start slowly. No more than five minutes in a low-level bed. Wear the protective eye wear they provide you with. Don't use tanning acceleration products until you've established a rich base tan. And tan in moderation. Going every day for years and years obviously increases your risk.
References :
i will be blunt, if you only go tanning, lets say once a week or once every two weeks there are no risks involved!!!!

It is only the people that go like 4 times a week that can develop damaged skin in their future...
References :
I go tanning once in a while, and in my opinion, tanning increases my appearance significantlly.

Each time you go it increases your chance of getting skin cancer by 10%
I personally don't think that alone makes it worth it.
(meaning, you're ten times more likely to get skin cancer with every time you lay in the bed)
If you don't wear your eye mask, your eyes could be SEVERELY damaged.
Hope this helps ;)
References :
Used to go to the tanning bed
