What are the chances of getting skin cancer if I used tanning beds for 5 years?

I started tanning when I was 15 and I’m 20 now, and I no longer use tanning beds. I used to go tanning a few times a week for a few months, each year during that time. I’ve been reading about tanning beds and skin cancer risks and am really worried that I will get skin cancer in the future, even though I no longer use tanning beds. I’m just want to know how high my risks are for skin cancer? Thanks = )
I started using the beds when I was 16, many years ago. I used them often up until a couple years ago. I don’t have skin cancer. Everyone is different. Some if will affect, some it won’t.
Your risks are probably higher than someone who has never tanned, but lets face it-everyone is exposed to sun, light, and tanning beds some time in their lives.Just keep getting checked from your doctor and you should be okay. My grandpa is ALWAYS out in the sun, like everyday, working and stuff. He got skin cancer but it was easily removed and now he’s 100% okay!

I doubt that. if you had it when you were 15 all the way to 20, then its kinda funny how you don’t find any symptoms. Plus we all get tans. if you want to make sure you don’t have cancer, give yourself a body scan. just get a really big mirror and look everywhere. (back, chest, legs, etc…) and if you find any weird stuff (moles, rashes, weird stuff, etc…) then go check with a doctor. and chill…. cancer even though it sounds like it kills you every time, if you find it early, it can be treated as easily like the flu.

I think you already know the answer to this question. Skin cancer risk is significantly elevated for persons who have used tanning beds on a regular basis.
The good news is that you have stopped using tanning beds, so your risk of skin cancer will not get any higher than it is right now.

Your chances are relatively high with the recent information that has come out. Tanning beds raise your chances by 75%. I would go to frequent check outs. Try a spray on tan or embrace the pale! Read more about the seriousness of tanning beds.
