Questions You Should Ask About The 220v Tanning Bed
120v, 220v, 240v are all voltages we commonly see in tanning beds. There is a common misconception that the 220v tanning bed is more powerful than the 120v beds. This just goes to show you should ask a lot of questions before you buy. 1. 220v Vs 120v 220v tanning beds are no more powerful than a 120v bed. The lamps don’t care whether a bed is 220v or 120v. In fact you need to be careful because 220v doesn’t always run great in the States because it’s designed for European voltages as North American voltage is 240v. Some 220v beds void their warranty if a buckboost transformer isn’t installed. Alpha Sun is one of the few beds that allow a variance from 215v to 240v. So use caution when purchasing a 220v bed. 2. Is it safe to buy 220v beds online As with any business there are good businesses and bad businesses. Online is the same. You need to do your own research which includes ensuring 128 bit encryption is present to keep your credit card information safe. You need to read the privacy policy to ensure your personal information is safe, and of course you need to feel comfortable with the site itself. It doesn’t matter which type of bed you are buying online whether it’s a 220v, 240v, or 120v. Whether it’s a commercial or residential bed. Do your research and when you are comfortable with the site make your purchase. 3. How big is the tanning bed? All beds vary slightly in size no matter the voltage. Most 24 lamp beds will easily accommodate someone under 6 feet and 180 pounds. Individuals over 6 feet and 180 pounds should look for beds that have 24 lamps and more than 36” wide to feel comfortable. 4. What does the warranty mean? At first glance almost every warranty can look great. Keywords like “lifetime” make us feel warm and fuzzy. But watch what they are attached to. Lifetime warranty on parts or structure means a lot more than a lifetime warranty on workmanship. What exactly does that mean? It’s vague and allows companies to weasel out of coverage. So ready carefully and ask questions about the length of time actual parts and frames are covered for. 5. Where to buy parts? Usually you can get any parts you need from the site you purchased the bed from or directly from the manufacturers site. It’s a good idea to check with the dealer before making your purchase to ensure parts are easily available. Depending on the breakdown you may need to hire an electrician to replace the broken parts. Never exchange electrical parts unless you are licensed to do so. 6. How are beds shipped? Because of the size of tanning beds they are usually shipped via truck lines. There will be two boxes no matter which bed or which retailer you buy from. Each half of the bed is shipped in its own crate and will weigh anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds. Make sure you have adequate help to move the bed into your location. 7. How long will it take to assemble? The beds are not difficult to assemble usually taking anywhere from 30 minutes to 150 minutes depending on what bed you’ve purchased. The Alpha Sun takes about 80 minutes. 8. Is my 220v bed a Wolff tanning bed? Now here’s where a lot of confusion occurs. Wolff is not actually a tanning bed. I know we’ve all hear about the “Wolff tanning bed.” But if a bed has Wolff lamps it can be licensed as a Wolff bed. Is that confusing enough? So rather than worrying about whether the bed you are looking at has the Wolff licensing on it just be sure it has quality workmanship and lamps. There are plenty of quality beds on the market that have nothing to do with Wolff. 220v tanning beds may or may not be the answer to your needs so be sure to also check 240v and 120v beds too!
