i wanna start tanning soon, i just need to be careful of safety, can you still get tanned while wearing sunscreen? do you need to get burnt? can you just get you skin warm? advice for fake tanning also?

I am Italian so naturally i’m pale, everything besides my face tans for some reason. Do self tanning lotions really work and i’m not talking about spray tans. And if they do work do you recommend any brands?
